MVC and the joys of new Technology..

MVC-AVC is the codec used for Interlaced 3D Blu-ray films.. it allows for stereoscopic video via one stream. Unfortunately I can not currently find a way to cost effectively encode to this format at this time, leaving the only option (for my current HTPC setup) to encode 3D Blu-rays to half SBS :(

SBS encoding work on the principle that you squash the right and left eye picture into the same frame size as the original, orientated from left to right or top to bottom. either way this hurts a little for a videophile.

Generally this is an issue with being up to date with technology, all the good stuff comes later.. like FullHD3D interlaced .mkv so you don't need to compromise. I should stop complaining and learn how to code it myself and if time allowed I would!
